The round orange berries are grown in a papery husk and resemble sungold tomatoes (they're in the same genus as tomatillos and the same family as tomatoes). Their flavor is mild with a kick of tartness. They are soft on the outside and crunchy on the inside. 

Gooseberry uses... a versatile ingredient in the kitchen. Whether you want to eat gooseberries fresh, add them to a pie, or stew them to make a sweet jam, gooseberries are up to the task.
